Wilby Tournament
Unfortunately, this tournament had to be cancelled on the day due to the heavy rain. It was a real shame as there were 16 players who had signed up for it.
The rearranged date will be Sunday 5th October, starting at 1:30pm.

Summer Social/ Working Party
Due to the general lack of response,  the Summer Social planned for last Saturday was cancelled. In its place was an impromptu Working Party, where a lot of painting, weeding, pruning and bench cleaning went on. Thanks to all members who helped on the day!

Next Committee Meeting
This will take place at Fiona Pye’s at 8pm on Tuesday 23rd September. Should you wish to raise an issue, please contact a Committee member before the meeting.

Used tennis balls
These are available for the bargain price of £1 per tube of 4 from Jan Hollis at 105 Cambridge Road.

Ladies’ Night
The next Ladies’ Night will be from 7pm on Monday 8th September. All lady members are welcome to cone along and join in.

Junior ladder
The number of matches played over the summer holidays has dropped. The last date for junior ladder matches will be Friday 24th October.

Club Tournament
There are a few semi finals still to be played before Finals’ Day on Sunday 14th September. Please come along and support the tennis throughout the day!

Hospital Cup
Congratulations to Joe and Ruby Hollis, who have reached the Mixed Doubles Final and will be representing Stansted on Finals’ Day at Castle Hill in Saffron Walden on Saturday 20th September. Ruby and Daphne are in the Ladies’ Doubles semi final, while Joe and Matt are in the Mens’ Doubles semi final. Fingers crossed for three finalists!
If you are free on Finals’ Day, please come along and support.
Don’t forget to put your ‘Tour de France’ raffle prize in the container in the cloakroom in the Clubhouse. Thank you!

U3A
On 21st July Debbie Lane welcomed 4 members of the U3A group to a 2 hour taster session at the Club. The session was a great success and thanks to Debbie for organising.

Midweek Tournament
Gail Hogg is organising a Midweek Tournament from 9.30am on Friday 29th August. There is one more slot available, so if you are keen to play, you will need to be speedy signing up on the notice in the Clubhouse.

The Essex Small Clubs League One Day Tournament will be taking place this Sunday, 24th August, at Bishop’s Stortford Tennis Club. Stansted will be represented by Joe and Ruby in the Mixed Doubles, Lisa and Lorraine in the Ladies’ Doubles and Chris and Matt in the Mens’ Doubles.
