Pearce Trophy Doubles Tournament 21 May 2023
Stansted Tennis Club held its bi-annual mixed doubles Pearce trophy tournament at the end of May. The tournament saw a mix of new and legacy members with a wide-range of playing experience and featuring an impressive 34 year age range (31 yrs up to 75).
The final was Wimbledon-worthy featuring two of our oldest members; Sandra Ayers (ranked 8th in GB’s over-75s) and Michael Wilde (70+ and recently married). Sandra and Michael battled bravely but were pipped to the post by Daphne Lunnon and new member David Dunwoody, who triumphed 6-3.
Consolation winners were Chris Bailey and Paul Balas.
The event was organised by Louise Chalk with help from other committee members. Participants enjoyed a pot luck buffet once the on-court action was concluded.
